SELFISHNESS - ALTRUISM - SELFLESSNESS
WHO IS THIS ARCHETYPE?
The Nourisher archetype is here to preserve and protect and take care of themselves and others. It’s natural for the Nourisher to read what people need and give with both hands. This archetype is a master of compassion.
The authority of this archetype is grounded in the sacral chakra, so it responds to life moment by moment. There is always a possibility of giving too much. The influence of the Maestro (Archetype 50), who has the instinct to set healthy boundaries, helps to protect the Nourisher from over-giving.
The Nourisher has learned the fine art and balance of not sacrificing itself and its own wellbeing for the sake of others. Nourishers know the foundation of true care is the ability to take care of ourselves first; otherwise, we can be of no use to others. We need to balance the caring of others with the need to ensure that we, too, are sufficiently nourished in all areas of life.
There is a tribal energy to this archetype, and its caring is all about responsibility and education. A well-fed community has optimal neurological development, which allows everyone to continue to live out the values of the community. The Nourisher transmits values through education, encouraging a fair distribution of resources.
The Nourisher always gives from the heart and can feel when someone gives from a hidden agenda or with attachment to a certain outcome. It teaches us that if we are angry, resentful, weak, etc., it’s not a good time to give. We’re better off grounding ourselves first so that we can give with no strings attached.
Wanting everyone to flourish
Being strong together
Ensure well-being of the community
Balancing the care of self and others
Caring more about the tribe than the individual
Wanting everyone to be altruistic
You are giving away your personal power rather than giving from your heart. You give to others but without any natural sense of boundary, which either leads to your being taken advantage of or to a feeling of resentment from the receiver. You are afraid of your own dark side and try to gloss it over by expending all of your energy on others. The frequency of the giving does not come from your true heart and can only be received in the manner in which it is given, without real gratitude. Giving in this way causes more harm than good, because you inevitably deplete your own resources and gradually wear down your own health.
From the Gene Keys
You give to others in order to get something back for yourself. This kind of political giving creates its own aura of manipulation and encourages distrust. When you give to others and do not get back what they expected, the latent anger of your reactive nature suddenly explodes to the surface. You have this capacity to lash out at others, and it can often seem shocking because in the beginning you appear to be so generous and giving. This kind of giving comes entirely from the mind rather than from the heart.

Questions to Consider:
Where are you sacrificing yourself in ways that aren’t good for you?
Have you ever given too much of yourself and then resented it later?
Where and with whom do you find it most difficult to set healthy limits?
How can you better care for yourself, so you can give from a full cup?
What did you learn during the first seven years of your life about selfishness, self-sacrifice and selflessness?
Where and with whom do you tend towards selfishness?
Are you doing things for others that they could be doing for themselves?
Are you dependent on the approval, permission, or recognition of others?
Are there any people in your life that you need to stop trying to keep happy?
Could you be better about taking care of yourself? If so, what do you need to commit to?
Physiology: Prostatic Utricle
Victim of Self-Sacrifice
It’s from my self-empowerment that I care about others.
My capacity to care is limitless.
I inspire others to take responsibility for what is theirs.
Together we are even stronger.

“Selfishness then is the stage in our evolution that is in the process of being transcended at a collective level. If it weren’t, humans would die out.”
Gift: The Pod Mind (Altruism)
“To give to others simply for the sake of giving activates healthy currents deep within your body.”
Siddhi: Love – The New Superfood (Selflessness)
“As long as there is an ounce of life force within something, the vast love coming through the 27th Siddhi can receive it.”
EMBRACE your shadows. Sometimes our shadows just need attention and love to be transformed. An embrace is a hug. We pull it in; we do not push away. Hug until it blends and transforms inside of you, revealing the GIFT within. The gift is then RELEASED within you and outside of you. You EMBODY the Siddhi when this essence vibrates through your whole being.
